Three Goals For Three Points: Foxes Take Down Jags

FSA PRO traveled up to Massachusetts for their final away match of the UPSL Fall season. They battled the Jaguars and were able to get away with a well-deserved three points. With only two games left, including a home match this weekend, the Foxes look to continue the fight for 1st place. Here's a match recap from Coach Holzer as the squad looks forward to a big week of training ahead of their matchup with Lincoln CF at Hudson Sports Complex on Oct. 26.

FSA PRO Foxes Soccer Club - Hudson Sports Complex

What stood out the most in the win against Jaguars United FC for the Foxes?

It was a hard fought match by both sides. We played well as a team on offense as well as defense and it was easy to see that the Jaguars wanted the three points at home.

I don't usually like highlighting just one player, but Chris Rubio was a massive asset for us on Saturday and has been throughout the season. He had an incredible strike from far out that gave us a 2-1 lead very late in the match. He has been a leading example from week 1 for this team. He has a great work ethic and is a total team player who helps inspire his teammates. We are very lucky to have him and his late goal sparked a big momentum change that helped us get the road win.

How was the team's morale in their final road game of the Fall season?

The team was looking forward to this match after a couple week break. Morale was good, but we were a little sluggish and the Jaguars took advantage by earning most of the possession in the 1st half. The Jaguars were playing with a lot of passion and aggression, but we were obviously very happy to have the 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was a completely different performance and we held on to a well-deserved victory. Morale was very good to start the game, but this win has certainly put us in a good spot as we head home for Saturday's match against Lincoln CF.

With two games left, what can be done so the team is ready to secure all 6 points?

We want and need to win both games, but we are trying to take each game at a time. We feel that we have already exceeded most expectations for our first season, but we are still extremely hungry for more success. We are going to put in a ton of work in this week's training so we can have a strong performance against Lincoln CF at home on Saturday night.
